There is some research to suggest the feedback of a good mechanical keyboard is better for the muscle tension in the fingers, and I know they last and last. Unicomp still have the IBM keyboard, now with USB, but I never got around to getting one. Normally I use a laptop, which is a Lenovo Thinkpad, which has a passable keyboard, but still, every couple of hours, the fingers need to relax time. Their biggest claim to fame for me is that my hands never get tired. I don't mind the noise, working for clients I often get put in a open office environment and learnt to shut out noises easily. But real IBM keyboards are something special. On my first PC I broke the keyboard within 2 weeks of use and found a Northgate. I started out on the old 3270 keyboards, so sturdy and heavy even the keyboard alone was hard to move. It's a good keyboard, possibly my best option.
